The OEM Engineer Apprenticeship is targeted at the Original Equipment Manufacturing and installation and services sectors which sell to national and international markets. Their products are for use in the agricultural, transportation, materials handling, quarrying, construction equipment, food processing recycling handling and allied industries.
Upon successful completion of this applied, integrated programme, learners will graduate with an Advanced Certificate in Original Equipment Manufacturing, This is a major award at NFQ Level 6, awarded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI)
This is a new and exciting apprenticeship opportunity to learn both within the class room and work environments. Over the course of the OEM Apprenticeship the apprentice will be trained in a diverse range of engineering skills in order to assemble a disparate range of components, involving a range of processes, in order to manufacture and support original equipment
The lead partner for this apprenticeship is Cavan and Monaghan ETB and the collaborating partner is Limerick Clare ETB. The apprenticeship is a three year programme delivered over three stages. Stage one, year one involves 16 weeks off-the-job training (at Cavan and Monaghan ETB or Limerick Clare ETB) with the remainder of the year spent applying these skills in the work place.
Year two follows the same format with Year three having a slightly shorter duration on the off-the- job phase of 14 weeks.
For this Original Equipment Manufacturing OEM apprenticeship, it is up to each employer to set the salary scale and pay for the apprentice. It is the responsibility of the employer to cover fulltime employment costs of the apprenticeship both during the on-the-job and when the apprentice is participating in the off-the job training. These payments should also include travel costs.
